Definition of clinical experience/how many hours do I need to shadow?

My goal is med school or DO school for internal or family medicine. I don't care where as long as it's not Caribbean. I couldn't get a straight answer out of my adviser. Does anyone have any advice? I've also been working part time as a pharmacy tech for the last year. Is that read as some kind of healthcare experience or will it be seen as a retail job? What about my previous part-time job as a medical assistant?

Side note, does anyone have a ballpark number for volunteer hours that look good on an application?
