The traffic was particularly atrocious yesterday. The key to avoiding the mess if you're down in University City is to use Belmont and get on at 338. Cut of about 8 miles of the Schuylkill if you're going to the turnpike. Too bad they are doing TP construction. That was a mess 🙁.

I would never use the schuylkill to get anywhere especially at 4pm... Traffic isn't bad when you learn side streets.

Not only is the gym free... but the 76er's practice there too. It's one thing to work out, it's another to have a pro spot you.

I went to the PCOM open house yesterday. I am actually sitting in the Hilton across the street right now. It was a great little campus, everyone was very helpful and nice. I must admit, though, that the OMT demonstration was a little peculiar, I guess I will have to get used to it. The gym was really cool, and there is a balcony over the basketball court so you can watch the sixers practice. They also have team offices on the thrid floor of that building. Overall, very nice.

I didn't go to the open house yesterday, but I went to PCOM's open house last year and fell in love with the school. Everyone was really helpful, our tour guide was very thorough in explaining everything, and the campus was beautiful. I think they may be my number 1 choice, even though UMDNJ-SOM is 5 minutes away from where I live now.

I went to the UMDNJ open house. The dean was very sincere, though he did give me quite a reality check. He definitely emphasized GPA which is not exactly my strong suite. He was one of the more passionate speakers I've seen in a while. The campus was beautiful (not to mention it was 75 and sunny😀). My fav. part was going into the anatomy lab... people walking around with internal organs in their hands! (side note, one person on my tour looked like they were going to yak! She later asked "what happens if you get nauseous during anatomy?" I was thinking... then maybe you're not in the right field?)

It seemed as though most people asked questions that were very basic like dress code, etc. Am I abnormal or shouldn't you do some research into the school before you go to an openhouse?

I wanted to go to PCOM the same day, I didn't think I'd make it with traffic.

Overall I <3 UMDNJ!

That's correct. The acceptance rate last year was also ~ 3% (120 accepted out of 3,700 applicants).

Plus, they're hardly opposed to OOS applicants - I'm OOS and so were plenty of other accepted applicants. They also make OOS students' tuition in-state after the first year.

Then why on their website does it say 80% in state acceptance? I know that is for the class of 2011, but i'm sure in the last 2 years that 80% stayed about the same.

So I gues i'm confused when u said the admission people are not opposed to oos yet the numbers show otherwise.

because it used to be policy that all you needed was a lease and you were considered to be in-state. You have a bunch of people that went through the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences (which is kind of like a post bacc) that were from out of state and have an apartment because of the program and are said to be in-state because of that policy.

However, we do not care which state you are from. There is no preference for residency.

120 accepted or 120 matriculated? I thought the class size was around that number, but usually at least double to triple the actual class size are offered admission right?

About 260 are accepted and we matriculate 120 this year.
