Yes of course this is clinical experience. I have worked as a BHT now for three years, but I work in a general medical hospital (county hospital). not a psych facility. I work with undeserved populations. I basically monitor patients who are in the ED or admitted into the hospital (I float to all the hospital floors-Peds, PedsED, OBGYN, IM, ED, Burn Center) and monitor their behavior, vital signs, check their blood sugar, and provide companionship. An order is basically placed for patients who may be high risk=suicide, psych hold, fall risk. The hospital I work in is a teaching hospital and I get to see the medicine team and other staff all the time because its basically like shadowing the patient around everywhere they go. Its a great learning experience and I get to appreciate the medical and psych side. Its also a very flexible job!
