You’re not really being lied to. Think of it from the other viewpoint, would you want to hire someone who is going to bail within a few months?
Especially if your ideal location is competitive, do you really expect it NOT to take time to transfer in? Remember the first job will almost always be your worst one. So don’t feel bad about not getting to the top in one go.
