Can you give a freshman year to senior year break down of your GPA. Also what range would you say your undergraduate is in? Top 20?

Where is your state of residence ? You could do a DIY post bacc at a local college in the coming year to increase your sGPA.

Are online classes a possibility for this? I'm formulating a backup plan in the event this cycle doesn't work out and labs may be difficult to accommodate with my current work situation.

Which schools did you apply to this cycle ?

If this was to me, I'm not OP just was piggybacking off the post, but all the HBCUs, Netter, Wake Forest, Marshall (in bordering state w/ matriculants), USUHS, Michigan State, Tulane, Toledo, Rosalind Franklin, Georgetown, Commonwealth, Illinois, Albany, 5 DO schools probably adding a few more. At least 10th percentile for all I've applied to.

Hello, everyone.
As SMPs and post-bacc apps start to open up, I'm debating on whether I should apply/which one I would potentially choose.

A little background about me - I recently graduated college in 3 years and I have a 3.5 cGPA (3.4 sGPA) and a very STRONG upward trend within those 3 years.
I've been involved in many activities and continue doing so during my gap year and I know that extracurricular wise, I'm not lacking in anything so that's all set.

My main concern is my GPA. I am an ORM, I did go to a relatively difficult school but that's no excuse for poor studying skills which I did not learn till my second year. Unfortunately I got 5 C's in the process in introductory level classes (i.e. gen and o chem), however I got all A's in every upper level class so I know that doesn't entirely make up for my lack of success. Unfortunately, there's a really good reason why I did terribly during the winter semester though I cannot disclose that at all on a public forum.

I plan on applying to SMPs and post-baccs because of my terrible grades in chem. Not sure if my MCAT score (520) will make up for it however, this is a legitimate concern of mine so...

I know my GPA does not need as much repair compared to those individuals who do end up opting for a post-bacc, but at the same time I know SMPs are a high risk high reward so there's another concern too.

I've read countless posts about post-baccs and SMPs already but I'm still confused. I will be applying to both however I'm not sure what I should be leaning towards.

Any comments would be helpful and if you want to know more about my background, just ask me and I can elaborate!
Need the year by year GPAs, but on the surface, rising GPA trends are always good, and it seems like you don't need an SMP or post-bac.

You have a 520 MCAT and a riding gpa trend. I think you should be fine for many MDs and all DOs

@Goro
1st year ~ 3.1
2nd year ~ 3.4
3rd year ~ 3.9
(Finished degree in 3 years)

@Faha I did not apply this cycle, though I made a comprehensive school list with only MD schools. My residence is in Ohio.

@keanureaves I did not add HBCUs to my list only because I'm ORM (Asian).. thought you would be more likely to accepted if you were URM/Black there?

@ppushpak Public university but I believe T10 for public colleges. Overall probably T30-40?
It's a hard call with only one datapoint (one solid year) of great grades. I recommend applying to both MD and DO, and some SMPs as insurance. In the mean time, take some DOY postbac courses in upper level biology.

You do not need a SMP or a formal post bacc. In the coming year you could take undergraduate level science courses at a local college to increase your sGPA. Do you have physician shadowing hours and clinical volunteering or employment with patient contact ? I suggest these MD schools with your stats:
Toledo
Wright State
NEOMED
Ohio State
Cincinnati
Case Western
Pittsburgh
Rochester
Tufts
Vermont
Quinnipiac
New York Medical College
Hofstra
Einstein
Seton Hall
Drexel
Temple
Jefferson
George Washington
Eastern Virginia
Virginia Commonwealth
NOVA MD
Oakland Beaumont
Western Michigan
Wayne State
Medical College Wisconsin
Rosalind Franklin
TCU-UNT
