Don't pre-study for step I before even getting into medical school..
Not step 1, but is having a light understanding of Anatomy/physiology good to look into for someone with no Anatomy background?

No prior knowledge (beyond the prereqs) is expected for anatomy or any other course for that matter. If you have discipline and good studying skills, you'll be fine. I went into medical school thinking everyone had prostates, and I turned out alright

Cool cool! Thanks!

Also, what did 23 year old Moko think the prostate did....?

I’m an MS4 doing interviews for med school. If I asked a student what they are doing with their gap year and they said “step 1 prep” I’d probably recommend rejection.

Preach! Haha

Bro, you're not even accepted to medical school yet. Why would you spend your time studying for a test you likely won't ever have to take? I understand if you're interested in the material and want to learn more but step 1 prep just sounds really dumb at this point. If you want to waste your time "Prepping" once you got that acceptance, fine. At least you're 100% will be having to take that test but now? Come on.

It seems like everyones in agreement. I probably shouldn't have said step 1 prep, when my goal is more to retain everything I learned in my SMP, while also having a chance to go more in depth in some areas of interest. I'm a bit worried it'll be rough going from not being in school to med school so that's also playing a role in my thought process. Either way thanks for the input!!

ENJOY the little time you have left to live life. Travel, spend time with friends, go out, be with family, take up hobbies that you’ve always wanted to do but didn’t have time for, etc.

You’re gonna be kicking yourself when you’re drowning in studies and then you will think back at during the months before med school....you were studying?

Med school is hard and so is residency. Refresh yourself and enjoy the time before it all starts.

If u can get into medical school you will be overwhelmingly likely to get through medical school. Don’t worry about learning. If you want to learn something you’re better off studying something medical school won’t teach you, like a language, or poetry, or how to play a certain song on an instrument you know.
