Welcome to the forums. Can you fill out a template?

3.40 gpa, 507 MCAT, ~4000 hours D1 athletics, 100 shadowing, 500 clinical employment, 90 volunteering, 60 leadership, 150 other employment
Top 30 undergrad
I did a post bacc for 16 credits (pre reqs) and got a 4.0

I know I'm really late to be applying but I decided I would apply this cycle despite my low stats. Any suggestions on schools would be greatly appreciated! I am applying to my state school so far! Thanks so much!
What state?

does your undergrad have a medical school? If you were a D1 athlete for the school you likely have a great shot.

I think you’ve got a great chance at UNM depending on your reason for med school. If you can bump those non clinical volunteering hours up you should get some looks (even without any more I think you’ve got a great shot). Rethink what you did with your team and anything else and see if you’ve forgotten some volunteer hours there. A lot of people undercount.

Thanks for the response! I'm currently getting more volunteering hours. There are some things I did with my team that were community service but they are really sporadic and all different areas so I'm not sure I should add. My undergrad has a medical school that I would love to apply to but not sure if I would have a chance as they are not very out of state friendly.

Without more detail on the template, I agree you need more nonclinical community service, especially focused on serving others in need (and not in health-related arenas). You probably have done more community service with your athletics department, so showing you can do service independently helps.

What is your goal as a future physician?

Thanks for the input! I agree definitely focusing on volunteering right now.

I want to be able to help people get back to their passions as a physician. That's mainly what my personal statement and app has been centered around as well.
