total number of pits on occlusal surface of max first molar = pits on Y shaped mand sec premolar..
how many pits are there??? 4 ???

2 more questions:
in mand molars crown are inclined distally relative to long axis roots ....
i thought roots are the one inclined distally ?!!

from developmental point of view all mandibular molars number of major cusps compared to number of major cusps in maxillary molars: 5:4.....can someone explain

there are so many viewer and no answer ...please help if u know answers
thanks

i won't loose hope i have one more question
fissured groove is most frequently in:
li surface of max molars
or buccal surface of mand molar
answer is max molar...
but there is also a fissured groove on bu of mand molar???

Developmental grooves (not fissured grooves) are on the buccal side of mandibular molars.

Mandibular molars have pentagonal shape from occlusal view, hence 5 points (5 cusps).

Maxillary molars have rhomboid shape, hence 4 points (4 cusps), the cusp of carabelli is not considered a major cusp on 1st max molars.

that's all you need to remember if in doubt.

Overall, mandibular molar are inclined lingually and in mesial direction in the mandibular arch. However, the crow itself (from anatomy perspective) is inclined distally relative to the axis of the tooth, but not as much as the root does.

hi cold font
thank you so much...
about the first question : the li groove on max molars is a distolingual developmental groove too ...so it is not a fissured groove ...
did u take ur exam??? if yes how long do u think is enough for a good revision + exams ...and what's the best way to revise
again thanks alot ...this forum needs people like u 🙂
not only viewers but ones who reply and try to help😉

about the first question : the li groove on max molars is a distolingual developmental groove too ...so it is not a fissured groove ...
right.. the lingual cusps are separated by the lingual developmental groove which is continuous with the distolingual (or distal oblique) groove. However, on mandibular teeth, it's usually on the mesiofacial or distofacial surfaces.

this is a common question on the boards... at least on the old exams.
