Does anyone know any good books/resources for dental anatomy? My professor is very disorganized and I feel as though I have barely learned anything this semester. The textbook I have is somewhat helpful but it is very dry and unpleasant to read. Anybody know any other good resources? Thanks! 🙂

We used Fuller, J.L., Denehy, G.E., Concise Dental Anatomy and Morphology, 4th Edition, Mosby, 2001. ISBN 0-87414-125-7
Ten Cate AR. Oral Histology, St. Louis: Mosby, Chapters 3 and 10. (also required for Basic Science Stream)
Mjor IA. Pulp-Dentin Biology in Restorative Dentistry, Chicago: Quintessence, Chapter 1

I would also reccomend a set of Nissin Study models...

The book can be difficult to read, but with the models, you can really get a lot out of it.

we have a computer program we used...I didn't get it because it costs 175 bucks...don't remember the name of it, but do a search for other threads like this.

We used Woelfel also. We also used all chapters in Ten Cate (great book) and powerpoints from out teacher.

I would highly recommend Wheeler's dental anatomy and occlusion. We used that book for OA and it was a great book that has a bit more than what is expected but it is a wonderful resource in my opinion.

I've been reading up on my DAO so my boss can't rip on me so much (all in good fun, i'm a predent).

When you say study models, are you referring to a typodont style with the full arch or do you suggest individual models of the teeth. I don't think I'm ready for learning all the grooves and ratios and stuff...I'll just let him keep bugging me on that stuff.

Oh man, that's a shame. There's just no need for that when there are so many grippingly suspenseful dental anatomy books out there to choose from. Ours was a real page turner... co-authored by Michael Crichton I think.

we used wheeler's dental anatomy and occlusion, and okeson's management of temporomandibular disorders (or something like that)

I would go for the individual models of the teeth.... Why? Becuase part of dental anatomy is identifying indavidual teeth. You will get more use out of theese in the long haul.

If your a predent, I would not study a damn thing... You will get plenty of dental anatomy in your very near future.

I believe he is referring to crown:root ratios.

Other ratios like L:O/M😀 size of various molars in comparison to each other in the 2 arches, the rule of thirds could be looked at in ratios, etc.

I still wouldn't try to touch the stuff before school started, you may end up confusing yourself.
