Dental Application Volunteering

Hi All,

Just like all of us, I am trying to strengthen my application with extracurriculars (research, shadowing, volunteering). While the first two have been possible, volunteering has been quite difficult because my university has no dental school and the nearest DS is two hrs away. Therefore I can't volunteer at any dental clinics or events because there are none. I've taken to volunteering at a hospital however. Will this be to my advantage? Or will this just make admissions officers scratch their heads as to why I'm volunteering in the pre-med field rather than pre-dent?

No, they won't really care. Volunteering doesn't even really matter.

Hospital volunteering is fine, definitely not an issue. If asked, you can simply state the reason you listed above.
