I'm currently a biology major at VCU and started out as pre-pharm but have recently gained interest in dentistry school. I have pharmacy work experience but would like to gain exposure to a dental practice(plus I need a rec letter from a dentist).

Do I need a license in order to become a dental assistant? Should I start scouring the classifieds for a job?

it may be hard to find a dental assistant position w/o experience.. but you can try... what i recommend is to just shadow one of the million dentists around richmond.. also contact hazel at the dental school she will help in letting you come assist at the dental school

would this be an occasional shadowing position? i guess i'll start by asking around over at the MCV hospital and dental school since i'm on campus
