Hi guys,

Any one knows about the Dental assistant job offerings in Texas for foreign trained dentists ?

How is the pay ?
Do we have to take any tests for that ?
Do we have to attend or take 2 yr course for it ?

hi,
finding a dental assistant job in texas is not easy.
they ask for certified DA and expect u to know spanish.
well a DA is paid $12-$14/hour.

good luck.👍

Well.......if you really need a job you will get one and i mean in a good clinic. Its not going to be easy to get one but you will get.You dont necessarily need any certification, at least i didnt. My boss later paid for the exams and i wrote them later. Its necessary but not mandatory( you will be called a DA-in-Training) this is covered by state law!
What part of Texas are you?

If you are in DFW metroplex.......a simple key is the star telegram. make a resume and fax to the DA openings. Take away the BDS or DMD from your resume else they fear you will be a competition.

Target private clinics where the owners of the practice are still there, ask to speak with them personally and introduce yourself and what you have in mind. if they dont need a DA now, tell them you wanna volunteer, this will give you a footing, and they can serve as your reference or lead you to someone who needs one ....... its usually tougher with general practice, they use office managers and employ fresh graduate dentists that hardly have a say in the runnings of the clinic and they are less patient with you when you dont do things their way or aren't fast enough. If you live near fortworth, i guess it may be easier cos most clinics are privately owned and its easier to present yourself and relate with them.
i got my first 3 jobs by walk-in's. i got my current job via the newspapers. You can get paid as much as 16-20/hr

Good luck!
