hello colleagues,
I've just move in to the U.S. this last nov., 07; I'm currently living in minneapolis, mn. I'm in the process of licensure through the board and so preparing for the board exams.
Fortunately for an income, i'm working as a dental technician (prostodontics' area) but would like to work as a dental assistant.
Does anybody know of a state that will allow me to work as dental assistant without a dent. assist's license?

hello, i guess me being a prosthodontist was taken into consideration.
Do you anything about what state allows you to work as a dent assist without a license?

i dont know abt other state but pa u just have t o get a certificate in radiology m which is a one day exam ....

i appreciate your advice chato, are you also in the process of licensure? if so which route are you taking, pass program or straight through the board?

you can work as a dental assistant in florida. as far as i know, that's the only state to allow that.

hello apsara20, my understanding is that once you apply online for the exam through the ADA WEB PAGE, they will give you a reference number for your payment and a phone number where you will have to contact them. They will assign you with a location, date and time like a university or somekind of a prometric location once they've checked your requirements. I'm not exactly sure if prometric is what they call those locations, but you can check with the ADA web page to make sure.
Do you know if you need a dental assistant license to work as so in the state you live in? if so what state is that? I'm thinking of moving to one for I really missed the clinician side of my career.

yes prometric has these exams ...go to search and type pa radiology exam and u get the details .....plz anyone out there who is working as a da in pennsylvania give ur inputs ....as to wht have youll done to get a job ....or how do u aproach the dentists ....

u can work without license as an assistant in ILLINOIS but from which country you are.

u dont need to get license for da in illinois ....as i m workn without ny thn....n its been 3 months now...i got 3 offers when i started applyn for job within 2 weeks .. so just try ur luck n do chk local news paper ...where r u livn in illinois cz let me try if i could do some thn for u ....

hey praks,
go on www.danb.org there's an exam u can take which gives u the xray certification, u don't need to take any classes or course for it if u are a ftd, just take the exam for it u need to take a cpr certification , which u can take from any redcross centre, google it and u'll find it. send that and ur foreign degree to the danb ppl, take this paper, its not hard and when u apply to the dental office they will gladly hire u. hope this helps. 👍
