I've seen a lot of posts about getting the dentists to train you to become an assistant and the other less time consuming way of shadowing dentists. My circumstance would prefer some form of payment even if it's not much, but I'm not sure how I should ask this to the local dentists near me. I have made a list of all the dentists' names and numbers at my disposal, but what should I say? "Hi, I was wondering if I could book an appointment with Dr. XXXX to see if he/she is interested in training a student to become an assistant?"

well most of the time, no dentist will hire you then have the time to sit down and train you per-say to become a DA that's what a RDA school is for. that said, if you maybe volunteered for dr. him/her, you can easily pick up on the things and maybe you can work as a DA, not sure if you're allowed to do RDA stuff tho legally...

I would just try and find a dentist to shadow, and if your there for awhile he will most likely let you do some minor assisting.
