Hey I am VP of my school's dental club. Does anyone have ideas for good events that they have done with their dental club?

Have a recent dental graduate come talk to the club, before the application season starts have somebody that got in last cycle come explain the process to everybody applying next year. Those are the two that I thought were the most helpful and interesting.

Yeah, that's what we usually do yearly as well.

You can also plan other events such as getting guest speakers (general dentists, OMFS, ortho, etc.) to come talk to the club. And also invite dental schools to come to your college. For both, I would check interest levels before asking anyone to come - no guest likes to show up but have no one in the club be present for their presentation.

We had some speakers and free food 🙂 It was nice. We had a personal statement writing help meeting. The best meeting was when the pre-health adviser came to talk and answered pretty much every question about applications. We had a senior panel come in to discuss where they applied/got in...applications/interviews etc. So much you can do.
I tried to get my pre-dent club to do this but there wasn't enough interest :
Maybe your pre-dental club will want to do it because it seems awesome:

Why not go on the streets and brush teeth for homeless people? 🙂

Having one of the best pre-dental societies in the state, I think A&M has several good ideas to steal:
Guest speakers from all specialties of dentistry
Deans from the local dental schools
Mission trips to different countries
Dental school tours
Biweekly dental hygiene program for elementary school children where we teach them about dental hygiene and oral health (Really, really fun)
Mentor program (hook up underclassmen with upperclassmen)
Shadowing program (hook up students with local dentists to shadow)
Volunteering program (allow pre-denters to volunteer as dental assistants)
Relay for life and other events to raise money
Our pre-dental society was awesome.

That sounds awesome. To bad the PDS in my school is not all that great. It looks better on their application then anything. If I was VP of PDS I would probably try to organize study sessions, help the applicants out by getting dates of what needs to be done. Try to raise money for resource books and etc. Get shadowing programs in place, volunteer opportunities. Not just at dental offices but around the community. Also mentoring is a good idea for the freshman's and sophomores. I would try to meet as frequently as possible. My PDS met about twice this semester which is really lame and there was maybe 4 people who actually went and half were officers. Since you have the opportunity, try to make it a great one and do what you can. You are not only helping other people but also yourself.
