Hello fellow pre-dents/dental students/dentists,

As a student with a bad back who is becoming a dentist, I constantly worry about neck/back strain doing the job. I think establishing good ergonomic techniques from the get-go in dental school can greatly mitigate the chances of developing serious pain, and extend the length of your career. Even if you are dentist without pain, I think you should seriously be considering ergonomics and protect yourself. I found the following video to be very helpful and informative in developing good working technique. Hope you guys get some good tips:

 
This is a great video. Do they not teach this in other schools? Ergonomics was a heavily stressed issue for our first year students, the hygiene faculty comes in and lectures us for several hours on positioning and ergonomics.
 
They only started to care about our ergo about 1.5 years into school, after we'd already been hunched over in sim lab and contorting the hell out of her mannequins lol.

we still don't get sufficient instruction in this. :/
