Excuse my ignorance, but I was talking to a dentist the other day and he said that he was part of a dental "group".

What exactly is that and what would be the benefits of being in a group as opposed to owning your own practice?

Being able to call yourself "a groupie"

Yep... that's about it.

Could be a couple of different meanings.

The classical one (and I fall into this one myself). I practice with another dentist, so technically our practice is a group practice

Sometimes, a dental group will be a practice where in that practice, you'll have some general dentists and dental specialists all working together in the same practice

Those would be the two most common examples of a group practice
