  1. Pre-Dental
Hello,
I am currently a rising senior at a 4 year university studying as a pre-dental student. I recently got interested in the career, dental hygiene. I want to study at a local community college. So, here is my question. Should I graduate first and get the bachelors or just start quicker at a community college? I am thinking because I don't think I'll be needing the bachelors degree once I become a dental hygienist.

Having the bachelors is a safe thing to do if you ever wanted to go to a graduate program of any sort. If you are a senior might as well finish.

Make sure you actually like hygiene and shadow them first. It is NOT like being a dentist. I personally could never in a million years see myself as a hygenist due to the lack of variety in their job. But some people love it, especially due to the flexibility of the hours.

I agree with @Stanelz. It’s safer finish your bachelors degree program now. See if you like being a hygienist and if you don’t then you can use being a certified dental hygienist to your advantage when you apply to dental school.

Like others have said, might as well finish and receive your bachelors degree. It also gives you time to shadow different hygienists and determine if you really want to pursue it or not since you mention you recently found interest in it.
