Hi everyone!
I am curious if dental schools are teaching in English around the world? Specifically in China, India, Brazil, Germany, Korea, Japan. Do the majority of schools teach in the native language or english? I am not referring to schools targeting American students.
The world seems to be moving toward a universal language (English), I am curious about what universities are doing. Any help on statistics or information would be appreciated! Thanks!

Native language is the rule, English is exception!

The world seems to be moving toward a universal language (English)...

Where did you take this from?
Made me laugh... Anyway. There's not a single dental school in Brazil teaching in English, and there's no reason for that to change.

I really lol'd when I saw this.

First, not everyone believe the world is moving towards an universal language, which is English. Just because US and Europe has a lot of influences worldwide nowadays doesn't mean everyone likes English. Have you ever heard before that French used to not teach English to their students at all? There are countries that do think their language is supreme and they don't need "foreign" language like English too.

Second, for your knowledge, English wasn't taught the same worldwide. Especially in Asia with China and Japan, even high school English courses might only be reviewing basic grammars and stuffs. (I mean, English admission exam to enter university in my country is probably the same tests you'll give to elementary schoolers or middle schoolers, seriously) If you've ever visit China and Japan, you'll know how imperfect their English can get. Some people will actually refuse to talk to you at all if you ever speak in English to them, even though you're just asking for direction. Majority will end up with 90% body language and 10% fragmented English. Can these people really survive dental courses taught purely in English? I'm extremely doubtful of that though.

Back to the question, my dental school is supposed to be the only "bilingual" dental school in my country...but we end up with 90% native language and 10% English from the second year, and worsen every year. All the people in my class just constantly beg for the professors to lecture in our own language, give us test in our own language, let us answer them in our own language, basically everything in our own language. Even when an English speaking patient comes, people will try to push them away to someone else all because of the language. *shrug*

As far as I know English is the only medium in which dentistry is taught in India. No one uses local languages.

There are schools that teach in Hindi in India. Especially certain goverment colleges. More up North than down South.

Teaching is only in english in the western belt of INDIA ...although local languages are used majorly to interact with patients...especially Marathi and Kannada...although it is entirely in spanish in the south american countries like paraguay , peru etc...
