Could a current dental student please share their knowledge with me about this particular procedure?

A few years ago, I had my front tooth knocked in while I was playing basketball(got headbutted accidentally).

My mother's friend who used to be a dentist came over to my house and pushed the tooth back into its proper location but the front tooth was still really loose.

So after the weekend, I went to a dentist and the dentist ground the tooth into roughly half its size and placed screws in to provide support for the tooth and placed a temporary crown.
Later when the actual crown was ready, he replaced the temporary crown with the real crown.

Is there specific name for this procedure I described? Is there anywhere I could look up more info on this procedure?

Is the top middle front teeth(two teeth to the center from the canine) called the Central incisors? the tooth i'm talking about is the one when you have a bucktooth. just wanted to make sure

Thanks!

ground the tooth into roughly half its size -> crown prep

placed screws in to provide support for the tooth -> He probably placed a wire or something to splint the tooth to the adjacent teeth in order to stabilize it.

he replaced the temporary crown with the real crown -> cementing crown

The "buckteeth" are in fact called central incisors. They are flanked by the lateral incisors, and then come the canines.

Other candidates for the "screws" include endo post, or retention pins for a build-up.
