So for my biology senior seminar class we have to pick a bio related topic to give a 15 minute presentation on. I really want to do something dental-related, but it has to be pretty in-depth into some bio concepts, and not just about the profession or something. It's pretty open as to what it can be though. I'm having trouble thinking of a good topic, would anyone happen to have any ideas for an interesting topic I could do?? Any help would be MUCH appreciated! I want my topic to interest me and something dental related would be great. Thanks for any help..

Maybe something with biofilms? Biofilms are also known as the plaque on your teeth. Too bad you couldn't use more professional stuff.

The only course we really take in dental school is microbiology, so something related to that would be ideal.

*Biofilms
*The connection of plaque/calculus/caries to systemic disease
-look up c-reactive protein (CRP)
-endocarditis
-antibiotic prophylaxis (American Heart Association)
*The process of going from a healthy tooth --> accumulation of the pellicle --> accumulation of bacteria + food --> acid --> caries (It is really complicated and there is tons of material on the subject)
