I am really interested in a (at least part time) career in research. I also want to do clinical dentistry though and plan on going to dental school.

Does anyone know about the qualifications required to do serious dental research? I am looking into doing a Masters program in Craniofacial/Oral Biology before dental school. Is this not enough (ie need PhD)? or too much (ie DDS will suffice)?

Any recommendations for programs with a good reputation?

Serious researchers need a PhD or a strong postdoctoral fellowship. There are some DDS/PhD programs. Explore those.
