I've heard people on this site speak of "dental residency." I thought that dentists didn't have residency?? Only doctors do?? Please explain :)

And while we're at this simple question, can you guys tell me the difference between a DDS and DMD degree? And how many years does specialization take?

residency isn't required to practice except in NY at the moment.

there is no difference between DDS/DMD

length of residency depends on the program and the field

you may want to look at the top listed threads,.... the one on why a residency.... Delaware also requires a residency
