Hello, everyone!
This is my first time posting/joining online groups, so I'm not sure how everything works just yet, but I wanted to share my specs to gain your feedback/advice on applying to dental schools.
I am a Canadian student who graduated from a liberal arts college in the US last year. I majored in psychology and minored in neuroscience, with overall GPA of 3.73 and science GPA of 3.71 (and of course, I completed all of the pre-health requirements). I don't think my grades are good enough for Canadian dental schools, so I plan on applying to US ones either this or next summer. I know I want to apply to NYU and Boston U, because they're not state schools, but I'm not sure if it's worth applying to "high-reach" schools like UPenn, Columbia, and Harvard. I'm also considering SUNY at Buffalo and Stony Brook. Any thoughts on these schools/my chances?
I have been volunteering at a dental clinic for some years now and worked as a TA and research assistant for my school's psychology department. So far, I'm getting recommendation letters from my profs in psych, neuroscience, and orgo. I don't think my personal statement is absolutely terrible, but it's currently a work in progress. I will be taking the American DAT in the coming months, and hope to score around 22.
Thanks in advance!
