Have a question for all of you. My dad works at the dental school I am wanting to go to, I also have an aunt that has worked there for a while. Does this increase my odds to be accepted at this school?

Where do/ did they work? Something where they wouldn't have any contact with the deans, professors etc.? Then it could help but wouldn't be anything completely huge. If they are involved with a decent amount and know the deans/ professors then absolutely. It's all who you know, right? Obviously you would still need to get around the average to get it but if you're at that point then you're golden...in my opinion anyway. Obviously I don't know for sure. But on the application they ask if any relatives have gone to dental school before so we know they like connections.

My aunt works at the dental school I want to go to, and my mom taught there a while back. My mom still keeps in touch with some of the professors, and one of them just had a daughter who applied and didn't get in. Of course you can never know the complete scope of a person's application, but her's sounded pretty rock solid. So the speculation is that she didn't get in the first time because they don't want to show favorites or partiality. This makes me nervous...

I don't think so. The decision to admit someone affects the rest of their life. They aren't going to not accept someone for a reason like that. There must have been something wrong with her app. I know several people who knew people high up in dental schools. A call to that school from those people could only help.
