What are some things you've heard of/know of that will come in handy to have for dental school outside of the obvious required materials for each school?

For lab work:
-Rubber bands for mounting casts, holding boxing wax around an impression tray while pouring up a cast
-Hot glue gun to mount casts in proper occlusal relationship
-Tackle boxes to store typodont teeth, burs, polishing stuff... pretty much everything you use
-Small first aid kid might come in handy.
-I'm about to buy some of these storage trays to keep in my locker http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41QnVM7h-EL.jpg
-Apron/smock, or extra scrubs.

For clinic:
-Clipboards
-Hand mirror

You don't need anything for the didactic classes that you didn't need in undergrad.
And you won't really know what you need/what you want until you're there. These are the things that I use a lot that school did not provide for me.

Is it like undergrad in that they tell us what texts and materials we need via syllabus?
