I just received an invitation to an Open House. Is this common for some schools to send out invites to an open house prior to sending an interview invite? The invite says get to know the school, the faculty, and our admissions office.

I just received an invitation to a Stony Brook Open House. Is this common for some schools to send out invites to an open house prior to sending an interview invite? The invite says get to know the school, the faculty, admissions office and our school. So I don't what to make of this?
