Does anyone knw if dental schools do any phone interviews? I am under unexpectedly high financial constraints. Any advice is appreciated.

Get a credit card.....it allows you to pay for stuff even if you dont have money right now. When you get in to dental school, take loans and pay back your credit card. good luck

Bingo. One of the purposes of an interview is that schools often want to meet you face to face and for you to physically visit and inspect a school. Sometimes you have to take on debt in order to achieve your goals - get a credit card.

No phone interviews. Would you really like to be classmates with people that were accepted based on a phone interview?

I know dental school is a different scenario than undergrad, but did you really care how your undergraduate classmates were selected?

It's strange.....but being in dental school was like being in high school all over again. You have the geeks, jocks, hot and stuck-up girls, and social outcasts.

Borrowing a couple grand to attend interviews will be a drop in the bucket compared to what you are about to spend on dental school. It's a pain, but you just have to suck it up.

Nope, but this thread isn't about undergraduate. What are you talking about? Did your undergrad do phone interviews?

I doubt any good dental school will let you do phone interviews....or will they?? I've never heard of it. It's very important for them to see you.....read your body language, eye contract, demeanor....things they can obviously only find out in person. Also, like someone said - you should definitely check out the school you're applying to. Meet the students there, etc.

Are u kidding me? Phone interview????....

That makes it a lot harder for them to make fun of you, torture u, make u sweat. Besides, a phone interview would only be in ur favor if u could get the dean of admissions to call u on the 900 # and u had a seductive and sexy voice.

For my Penn undergrad interview, the Penn alum who did the interviews in my region was like 8 months pregnant so she conducted the interivew over the phone.. I guess it was no problem cuz I got in and I went to Penn for undergrad and loved it. 😀

I doubt they would do the phone interivews for dental school though.. especially if the concern is finances.. And it's not like undergrad interviews where it's done regionally. I know it does get very costly and finances are a concern but just think of it as an investment into your future. 👍
