Hi all,

I'm pretty new at this so I am just wondering if the pre-reqs for both dental school and for med school are the same? I am very familiar with the med school pre-req, just wonder if I need to take any other classes for dental school application. Thanks!

You have to go to each dental school's website that you are interested in applying in. Prereqs for each school vary greatly. Schools advertise these directly on their websites. But, in general, they consist of classes that one would take while completing a biology-based science degree.

short answer: Yes. both pre-reqs are the same.

and just like some medical schools, some dental schools require a few more upper level sciences (example 1 semester of Microbiology and Biochemistry are becoming pretty populare nowadays with both dental and medical schools). Perfect example of this is Univ of michigan dental & medical school

But the "basic" pre-meds/pre-dents are the same:
2 semesters of english
2 semesters of general chemistry
2 semesters of general biology
2 semesters of organic chemistry
2 semesters of physics (calculus or noncalculus based)

Some dental schools require more than other DS.
