Does anyone have a link that gives a list of rankings of dental schools?

Dental school rankings don't exist.

I have a history of bickering about the ranking of schools. However, I've recently come to accept that the ranking of dental schools is difficult, and that in the end it probably is a good thing they aren't ranked. Ranking and prestige don't really fit with the dentist mentality - if it did we would've gone into medicine. All dental schools are good - but each have their strengths and weaknesses.

here's the list:

It's a very busy site and you may not be able to get through the first time. So keep on trying. 👍

Hey Yah-E, not sure if you are aware of this, but that link doesn't work. And this is very, very important information. I think it's best not to kid around about it, mmmmmkay?

Yah-E's link isnt working, but I think I remember the first 4 schools that were on the list:

UPenn
Michigan
UT-San Antonio
Tufts

I think Harvard may have been next, not sure though. I guess we have to wait until the link is up again before we are certain.

Why lie, my man? Clearly the Top 5 dental schools are:

Gonzaga
University of Maine
South Dakota State University
Tulane University
Villanova

Have patience, the website should be working any time now! 😉

San Antonio is number one. Oh yeah, wait, that was 1993.........It doesn't matter. Go where you are comfortable.

Nothing this douchelicious guy says mean any thing. Just look up all his posts, they are pointless and useless.

"Finally, although US News did not rank dental schools in 2002 (because the schools boycotted and wouldn't send information), they have ranked them in previous years. The following is the 1994 ranking of dental schools by USNews. It is probably as accurate as the others, because, as indicated above, it takes much time and money to build an academic reputation."

1994 Ranking of Dental Schools

* #1U of Texas-San Antonio

* #2U of North Carolina

* #3 U of Washington

* #4 U of Iowa

* #5 U of Michigan

* #6 State U of New York-Buffalo

* #7 U of Alabama

* #7 U of California-San Francisco

* #7 U of Minnesota

* #7 U of Maryland

* #7 Indiana University

* #7 UCLA

Can't we keep the obligatory "Dental School Ranking" threads in the pre-dental forum, since predents are the only people (dentists, dental students, patients, and residency programs included) who care or spend their time considering this topic?

Well, I think this relates to postgraduates and practicing dentists as well. The higher ranked school you go to, the more successful your practice will be. Therefore, I think its very important that all pre-dents, dental students, and dental grads all look at the list to see where they will end up in the hierarchy of dentistry.

BTW I forgot what you call the guy who graduate last of his class from the worst Dental school?

It's what you do after graduation that counts. we don't even begin to scratch the surface in these 4 years (3 for UP).

* #6 State U of New York-Buffalo
I find this hard to believe. Maybe in clinical but not for NBDE since the implementation of vital book. Our class scored below average on part 1 and the dean was pretty pissed. That MF isn't letting anyone go to the third year unless they pass the NBDE part 1 now. This is how pissed he is 😀
half my class is playing BZ Flag or surfing the net during class and the other half is watching the first half playing BZ Flag or surfing the net.

I could use a good laugh during finals.

This is just comical. I love how undergrads are now just so enlightened on how to run a dental practice and how he thinks your dental school rank is directly proportional to your annual salary. The school you attend is important for getting you your DDS/DMD degree. Beyond that, the name means ****. Your salary will depend on how well you market yourself, your repuation based on your clinical performance - not what degree hangs on your wall, and how well you can convince somebody that they need that extra crown or complete anterior veneers. So seriously, until you get into dental school somewhere and begin to get a clue how the whole process works, please limit your ignorant comments to the predental forums.

However, I will try to limit my future ignorant comments to the predental forum, where I truly belong.

Way to make a killer first impression, slick. 👍

John, don't you realize that you need to study super hard, because your grades will determine how much monmey you make? Don't make me come up to the Preclin or run into Merritt and smack you upside the head.

Quit posting your ignorance in the dental forums.
