"manual dexterity skills" really isn't going to translate to working with a handpiece. You don't need to worry about it. You'll get plenty of practice when you get to operative. If you have a hard time, you'll just need to spend more time practicing outside of class.

Nothing will help you because there are no skills that are similar to drilling a tooth with a drill that spins 500,000 times a minute. You'll be fine. Everyone sucks at first and then you get good really fast.
