Hey guys, i was wondering if anyone had any info on NYU dental school. Does any body how the acceptance there is and if any of friends or relatives went there. How is the school, is it new, hard acceptance? I was considering applying there. Do they need a very high dat score..any info would be great..thanks bye🙂

30 on the DAT and 4.0 gpa. guaranteed admission

ok listen VAIO, DONT post anymore comments, if your going to have useless ones. This does not help anyone..please...this site is for learning and helping others. Your little 4.0 and 30 dat score comments was not cute nor helpful..i apologize on his behalf guys..thank you..

there is NO EASY dental school to get into, NYU included. NYU does, however, have the largest class in the country and arguably the most expensive cost of attendance. Those two factors are contributing factors to why many students choose not to attend when presented with other options. Therefore, NYU is one of the "easier" dental schools to obtain acceptance to.

Don't be fooled that just b/c it's an "easier" school to get into that it is not a good dental school, because in my opinion NYU is a fine school (i never attended). It is the most progressive school in the country and is a leading research institution; couple that with a well-respected dean.

In addition, the public perceives "NYU" as high-regarded and prestigious. When i told my friends that i was going to Maryland instead of NYU, many looked at me blankly.

Anyways, that's the perspective of a soon to be D1 that's not going to NYU. I'm sure other more credible sources will chime in shortly..

jb!🙂

ps- i got into NYU with a 22/22/18 DAT and 3.6 GPA/3.5 SGPA

my comment wasn't useless...if you score high enough you'll get in; there is no minimum that will guarantee you admission. don't look for easy way outs...admission isn't "easy" anywhere

listen i am not going to argue with you b/c i don't have time for you...but who isn't going to get in with a 30 and 4.0..therefore its useless..just stop arguing because you want to act cool, because your not...so just don't answer my blogs or ?'s anymore if your going to be Rude..later

how am i being rude?

ok, try getting a 3.5 gpa and a 22 on the dat and you may or may not get admission

^is that more useful

sigh...

NYU's a great school and I'm very excited to start there in the fall. I'll let you know how my first year goes.

The only thing that I'm probably the most bummed about is anatomy is done on plasticized bodies -- no dissection. Some people like this idea and I understand why they do it, but there's something about dissecting a human cadaver that I feel like I'm missing out on.

The only thing you'll be missing out on is coming home day after day smelling like cadaver. P.U. 🙂

Hey "Mackchops" i was wondering how much your tuition costs you a semester. i don't know if your an out of state student or a resident. But just give me an estimate of what you paid, because i heard that out of state tuition was around 40 thousand a semester. alright thanks

d4dental, just about the only other thing more useless than a remotely entertaining post is yet another thread about an exhaustively discussed topic. All your questions and more can be answered by using the search function to look up a school you have a question about or reading the schools website. If you are too lazy to do that, just scroll a page or two back in the predental forum and you will get your answer

NYU is a private school, therefore everyone pays the same in tuition. tuition at NYUCD is $50k/year. therefore, it is $25,000/semester.

jB!🙂

Yeah, tuition isn't the breaking point at NYU. It's actually cheaper than a bunch of schools. What freaks most people out is how much it costs to live in NYC. My estimated cost of attendance for this coming year is 90k.

Regmata, who the F*** is talking to you...why do you feel you had to stick your ass in everything..this has nothing to do with you..sit your ass to the side and shut your mouth...my question that i asked him could not have been answered by the site because i have looked it up and i got different estimates every time..so next time you want to add your two cents..DON'T...because you don't know what the hell is going on...i also wanted to know the living estimates...if you don't want to answer something Don't...just don't be annoying by putting others down..loser!!!!

you're way to serious bro, it's the internet, no need to get so worked up here =)

why do you keep typing in a title : dental/dental school ?

we know this is the dental forum

to answer the original question, i called nyu today...they said 22 on the DAT is pretty good, but 30 is even better 👍

No, Vaio, let this person keep going. I found their last post to be quite entertaining. Anyway, nothing is guaranteed in NYU. They interview practically anyone that applies to the school... great facilities, but the cost and 120 more international students in 2nd year SUCK.

Yes, 30 on the DAT will guarantee acceptance.

ALL grad schools are difficult to get accepted to because applicants can be admitted or denied based on nearly any reason.

But in terms of grades and DAT scores alone, I think you'll be fine as long as your stats are at least the average of all applicants. ( not the acceptees ) NYU still continues to be the least popular, as its large class size, inefficient clinics, and expensive tuition will make it difficult for any dental student.

I graduated from NYU Dental two months ago, for your info.

In addition, the public perceives "NYU" as high-regarded and prestigious. When i told my friends that i was going to Maryland instead of NYU, many looked at me blankly.

Given NYU's notorious class size, wherever you are in the country, your dentist is likely to be from NYU. So already, the NYU title is far too common among dentists, of which there are many who aren't successful. ( there are lots of well-off NYU grads as well, but I've met just as many who weren't doing even halfway decently )

I know NYU's average stats should be around an 18 DAT and 3.25 gpa.

On this board, yes, there are reports that applicants with higher stats were not accepted to NYU. But I suspect that they're a rarity, and you can't take everything you read as being true.

I just called NYU to ask for their DAT and GPA they said they only look at 19's and up, and 3.3 was the the 2006 students.

Thats complete BS. I didnt go to NYU, but what do you think schools say when you call and ask about numbers. If you have a 18 on the DAT, but say a 23 in the visual/tricky section(I dont remember what its actually called), and a 3.1 in mechanical/bio engineering with an exceptional interview, do you think you have no chance? The bottom line is this thread is ******ed. You dont ask questions like what will get me into dental school. There are so many variables. My advidce, major in a degree like mechanical or chemical engineering. Take the science classes that are needed. A degree like that regardless if your DAT scores or gpa are borderline can put you over the top in many schools. Work with a dentists for a year, be it assisting or doing lab work, this will give you credibility with the interview. Dental faculty/interviewers understand the difficulty of certain degrees. Numbers aren't everything. I speak from experience, my undergrad gpa was 3.08.

And another thing, d4dental needs to chill out. If you are set off so easily in a forum like this, your likely to have a nervous breakdown during your 2nd year of dental school(if you get in....😀.).

As much as I value your opinion and bashing about NYU, some of your posts come across as someone who is extremely bitter in realizing after 4 years that you don't want to do dentistry. You seem to blame NYU for your misery where it seems as if you don't even want to be a dentist. You commit 4 years in getting your degree and right away decide to switch professions. You're attempting to seek an associate position for the sole purpose to 'quickly' pay off your debt in order to become some computer programmer? Who on earth is going to hire you with that kind of motive? NYU didn't fail you- you did nothing to further yourself during your stay there ("... I've done rock-bottom in terms of extracurriculars, awards, recommendations, and contacts.")

G'luck to you bud.

👍 very well put. there are a lot of excellent students on these boards that will be attending NYUCD (i used to be one of them)...
