I have a BS in Business Administration/Finance. Graduated with a cum GPA 3.051. Is there a chance I can get into dental school? I have only taken a general biology course as an undergrad. Should I take bio, chem and physiology courses before I take the DAT. Or are there other options that I can do to get in?

Should I get a second bachelor's in bio? What's the best option out there?
Any input appreciated.

Thanks and this is a great forum.

So much to say.

But I will go with.
A year of biology, chemistry, organic chemistry to start.
Absolutely, everyone has a chance

Well, if you don't take the basic sciences first, you will be very unprepared for the DAT. Also, 3.0'ish is pretty low. You'd need to bring that up to a 3.5'ish to be competitive. You don't need a bachelors in bio. You just need to take the required courses and learn the material REALLY well.

If you're asking about whether you can get in to a DS in the future with a business degree, you bet. But all dental schools have requirements for application. They vary a bit, but a single biology course is well short of that requirement. Also, any class you can take that is covered on the DAT before you take the test will certainly be beneficial. An example of minimum requirements:

Biology (12 semester hours)

Chemistry (16 semester hours)

Physics (8 semester hours)

Mathematics (6 semester hours)

Non-Science Courses (30 semester hours)

I did pretty much exactly the same thing you did. The only undergrad science classes I had were a freshman BIO course and CHEM course as of May of 2007, and I'm going to start dental school this Fall. Send me a personal message if you want, and I'll let you know how I did it and answer any questions you have.
