Hi,
I've always wondered about the schedule of a dental student.
In undergrad, pretty much from year 1 to year 4, school runs from September to April and have 4 months of summer (for summer classes, research, volunteer etc)

What's it like for dental school?
from when to when does school run for? How long is the summer break?
I'm guessing there are no summer classes you could do so what do you during summer break?

So curious! LOL

For most schools you go year round with 1-2wk breaks between quarters. At some schools they may give you 1-3 months off after the first 3 quarters to study and take part I of your boards.

A lot of schools will post their calendars and class schedules on their websites. I know Minnesota and SIU have them up.

At Columbia we get a week of winter break and a week of spring break every year. The first summer we get off (mid June through last week of August). Second summer half the class gets July off, the other half gets August off. The other half is in clinic while you're on break. We get 3 weeks off in January, directly following winter break to study for part 1

Totally varies by school. Some schools offer three months off during the summer after D1 and after D2 (UCSF). Others only offer a couple months off after D1 and that's it. UCSF starts in like Aug-Sept for D1 whereas other schools start in mid-July for their D1. Some schools have two half days during the week from 9 am-12 pm (UCSF). I think VCU may offer spring break for D1-D3 but not for D4.
