The Perio's I am shadowing consists of a father-son team. :)
I will be working in their office 4 months this summer. :)
I want to ask them for an LOR while I'm still working in their office because I think that will make a better letter than asking them 4 months after I left their office (I will be fresh in their heads).
I was just wondering how long before I leave their office, I should ask them for it (how long of a time period I should give them to write it).
(I'm not applying until May 2006 so I'm not on a "complete application quickly" schedule.)

I would approach them a couple of months into the job. I am sure you won't have any problems getting that LOR - have fun in your new position!

You should give them a good month, so they can work it in their schedule. Anything less than three weeks I think would be rude, considering they are doing such a favor for you.

What do you guys think?

I'd say give it at least a month.
