Hey everyone, i was wondering if dental schools have stations for left handed students?
Is being left handed an advantage or disadvantage when it comes to getting accepted in dental school?

Hey iono about other school but at my school every single classrooms so far including waxing lab and clinic have designated tables/desks design for students that are left handed. I'd expect other schools to be quite similar

It's neither a positive or a negative as to getting into dental school. But what I have found in DS is that it has taken me a little bit longer to get my skills up because we had very few left-handed faculty who could help me with sitting position and proper access to the teeth we were working on. Most of the faculty would tell the right handers how to do something and then say "for the lefties, do the opposite." Which is true a lot of the time but not always. So anyway, once you figure that out on your own, being left handed isn't much of a disadvantage. My school also has left-handed stations that you can work at.

Hey dent35,

D1 southpaw here. As far as there being an ad/disadvantage to getting accepted....none that I know of, but I seriously doubt it. The topic never came up in any of my interviews. About a week into school they wanted to know who in my class was left handed, not sure why, everything in our clinic is ambidextrous (that I have encountered so far).

If ya ask me, I like being the odd-ball out as a southpaw. We are the only ones in our right mind!!
