There is a deployment coming up in my command for which I am respectfully declining to volunteer. If I am selected to deploy, I would return with less than one month to PCS. While commands usually take this into consideration, there is an unusual crunch this year that may cause them to consider me anyway.
Isn't there a DoD-wide minimum amount of time that a service member must stay with his command after a deployment? Isn't there a 3 month requirement to make sure the service member isn't going to snap after coming back from deployment? I really don't know.
Further complicating the matter, I will only have two years left of ADO at the time of returning from deployment. I understand there is a minimum two year obligation with funded CONUS PCS orders. Therefore, if my current command extends my orders by even just one month, it would force me to overextend my ADO by one month to comply with the two-year minimum time on station at my next command. The military cannot force anyone to overextend their ADO. So how is this supposed to pan out? Would someone with more experience please help me understand some of the rules better?
