How long has it taken you guys to receive your deposit back after you have withdrawn? I withdrew from a school about 30 days ago and I have yet to get my money back.

I'd call and ask them what's going on... 30 days is a long time - it's not a freakin' rebate.

I paid my deposit with a credit card, and they had the deposit refunded back to the card within 2 business days from the date I called and withdrew...

Most allopathic schools will refund your deposit if you withdraw before May 15th.

It depends on the school, but I think almost all, if not all allo schools are required to give back the deposit if you withdraw pre May 15th...

Assuming you are DO based on your screen name, DO schools keep the seat deposit (and their deposits can be pretty outrageously high, too).

by definition a deposit is something that will be refunded or will be applied to other costs.. like ur tuition if u end up going there..

I am about to withdraw from the schools I won't be attending and I was wondering if you have to ask for the money back or if they just refund it to you automatically.

When I withdrew from UIC they told me it would take about 6-8 weeks for my deposit to be returned.

I sent a very nice email to withdraw my acceptance for UIC and they responded the same day.
It occurred to me afterward that maybe emails are unprofessional and I should have written a letter but the whole application process is online and schools offer interviews and acceptances via email (or online status websites) so I didn't really think it would be inappropriate to withdraw my acceptance in an email.

I e-mailed on Monday and I received an e-mail on yesterday stating that my refund is being sent by certified mail.🙂 So, I hope that I will have it in two or three more days.
