A friend of mine was telling me he wants to match into a combined derm/IM residency. He is at a MD school. Are there any DO derm/IM residencies? I'm just asking for the sake of asking, I still have a few months until I actually start med school. haha
A DO attendee told me it is almost impossible to get into an allopathic derm residency as a DO. But you can try some osteopathic ones as they're only open to DO students.
i just saw a matchlist from PCOM that has atleast two students matching into derm at MD programs. Does anyone know if, as the OP previously asked, there are combined derm and internal med residencies? anything like that? sounds ridiculously competitive.
I think I was looking a while back, and there are VERY few DO derm residencies. I was only looking in the CA area, but there is only one here in Long Beach, and it's unpaid (which is unimaginable). I didn't check the rest of the country, but I think as a whole derm DO residencies are pretty rare.

-A good portion of them do NOT pay residents and the reason for this is because of poor funding and the fact that no one wants to train derm residents in a hospital when they could be making 300k + a year working in a private practice from 9-5.
-This doesn't mean anything about the quality of the residency, and yes it could be hard to work without being paid ... but if you are dying for derm, you will figure out a way to make it work.
-Also, just looking in CA is dumb ... the only one would probably be through Western, look at all of them throughout the country. Looking for a really specific residency in only one region of the country just isn't going to bring up a lot of results.
-Finally, matching MD derm would be very very hard (most likely) and I'm not sure if any of the derm DO residencies are derm/IM ... go to that link I posted to check it out.
