Hi I am interested in dermatology and wanted to know what book is good to read for derm rotations (and fun to read leisurely). We used Habif for class and a dermatologist also recommended a book by Fitzpatrick. I was looking for something less dense (and less expensive if possible).

I know residencies have different cutoff points for the COMLEX Level 1 but I contacted several programs and only a few gave me a specific number (I scored above 570 but below 600). What's your experience with this for those of you who are derm residents?

Research
- I am moving all the time for rotations so it has been difficult finding a place that offers derm research. How does research in another field look if I cannot find anything in derm? Anyone know of a doctor and/or hospital I could contact in Michigan about case reports, studies?

What other activities (volunteering, work, etc.) do derm programs like to see? I understand derm is one of the most competitive fields out there so any insight would be great.

Anyone have experience rotating at Advanced Desert Derm in Peoria, AZ?

How does it work with applying to derm programs? What types of letters of rec do they want? Do all derm residencies require you to do a traditional rotating year?

Thanks!
