I'm finishing up my PhD in a non-derm related field and I'm thinking about applying for derm next year, although I haven't decided for sure yet. Do you think it will matter that my PhD was not derm-related? Several med students I talked to said it's a big advantage to do derm research, but they were straight MD's who had done research either as an elective or as an extra year.
