Just wondering if anyone had any info on the interview at Des Moines? I heard that it's "laid back," as it were.

Any insights into what they are looking for, specifically? Any tips? Do's? Don't's?

Oh, and how is the OMM dept there?

Hey ya'll, thanks!

The interview is laid back. Two faculty members and 1 student. It's fairly conversational, non-challenging. When I interviewed the 1st question was "Tell us a little about yourself." They asked about my research, if my family would move to Des Moines too, if I had any questions - basically a 'get to know you' session. When we were on tour, many of the students said if you had gotten an interview it was highly likely you'd be offered a spot. Out of 3000 or so applicants they interview (I heard) about 600 to fill a class of 205. THey started the day talking about finances, let us speak with an instructor, and also with some 4th year students. They encourage questions and really want you to have the full picture about school and career. They even referred us to some articles in the journal Medical Economics for info on the future of medicine. You'll be in a group for all but your interview, and should know within 10 days or so if you've been accepted. Good luck!

Go to www.interviewfeedback.com and see for yourself. Also, someone just called me today from Des Moines claiming that she was assigned to me and was there to answer any questions I had. I felt it really reassuring. Keep an eye out for a call!

Best of luck to you, my man. I go in there next Thursday!
