descent mcat, not so descent science gpa

Hi, I got a 32 on my mcat, but factoring in my engineering grades, my aacomas science gpa is 2.97. Could I omit those engineering grades and not raise eyebrows? Without the engineering grades I have 3.34 science gpa. One of my friends who just got into an allopathic school told me to not even bother with this gpa. Said its a long shot getting in with a 2.97 into an osteopathic school and said I have a better shot at an allopathic school with amcas gpa of 3.36.

Any opinions are appreciated. I would rather go osteopathic than allopathic any day of the week.

I don't know about febreeze...but..
i dont think you can omit classes..they will see your transcript because it comes form the school and they may void your application. this one girl I konw had an excellent mcat score and ECs but decided to omit a C on ther TMDSAS general application and after being they found out and revoked her admission. it was pretty sad..it was so bad that she acutlly had to go to grad school and and try again after 2 yrs because she had that black mark...

basically, I wouldnt risk it.. unless you're sure its ok to do that.. another way to go would be adress it in your PS, because you're appl will definitely be looked at seeing how ur MCAT score is really good

Don't try to hide anything on your transcript. They will find it anyways. Apply to osteopathic as well as allopathic without covering anything up. People know that engineering courses are hard. Sure your GPA is a little low, but your MCAT is very high. Besides, this is a huge step in your life. If you want to go osteopathic you should apply instead of relying on other peoples' opinions about your chances. The application money is nothing in the larger scheme of things and its more important not to have regrets. The worst they can say is no, and I think your chances are much better then this other person believes anyways.

Also:
descent= lowering, going down, etc.
de-scent= to take away smell (for whoever made the febreeze wisecrack)

I wouldn't worry about it. I think your MCAT score will compensate for your GPA. Apply to broad range of schools, and see what happens.

You might research average GPA of engineering students at your undergrad vs. other sciences. Being able to show that your grades were still great *for engineering* (I know how hard those programs are) might help you.

Well, I will have been out of school for 5.5 years by the time I apply so I'm an older applicant. I work at the patent office as a patent examiner, so I have been doing engineering work all along. I will keep the fingers crossed.

DO NOT OMIT ANYTHING from your app they WILL find out. It is your permanant record. And yes that gpa is low, but that MCAT is high. Definately apply, and apply ASAP. You will likely get an interview or two.
