Which is true about the Kangaroo Rat?

a. The seeds eaten by this animal are very high in protein, but low in fat
b. The seeds eaten by this animal are very low in protein and fat
c. The seeds eaten by this animal are very high in fat, but low in protein
d. The fecal matter is watery and consistency
e. Two of the above

Answer: C

I don't understand the concept this questions is trying to get at! Why is it C?

I would assume it's assessing your ability to identify the metabolic needs of a specific animal. In this case, you might assume a kangaroo rat has a very high metabolism and thus expend energy quickly. Based on this, you would probably exclude those answers with the "low fat" simply because we know fat has the highest energy content based on amount, and fixate on the answer with the seed of high fat content to meet the rat's metabolic demands.

Weird, but hey, this is the DAT bio section we're talking about, right? 🙄

The consumption of protein requires the elimination of nitrogenous waste. Eat a lot of protein, pee out a lot of nitrogen. Pee out a lot of pee... pee out a lot of water.
