ok AsF4^- is dsp3 and this makes sense because the count the lone pairs

in 54 SO2 is sp2 is this bc the lonepair on the S in cancelled by the +?

It is sp2 because it's bonded to 2 oxygen atoms and has a lone pair of electrons, so it needs 3 molecular orbitals available to make this happen.

There is one for one oxygen, one for the other oxygen, and one for the lone pair.

An s plus two of the p orbitals gives us sp2.
