How many lone electron pairs are found in AsBr3?
A)8
B)10
C)12
D)6
E)2

The book says B) 10 but why? the VE=26 and sp3 hybrid with 1 electron pair, so shoudlnt the answer be E

Thanks ahead of time

total valence electrons 5 + 21 = 26

As has 3 covalent bonds with Br and each covalent bond needs 2 electrons. So, 26 - 6 = 20 = 10 pairs of lone electrons
