The question is:
Which statement(s) is false?
a) Early earth consisted of a reducing atmosphere of CH4, NH3, H2O, and O2.
b) Natural selection can occur because more animals are produced than will survive.
c) The ABO blood groups exemplify polymorphism
d) The forming of a new species through the geographic isolation of groups from the parent population is called allopatric speciation.
e) A and C

The answer is A which I understand but I also thought that C was false. Isn't ABO blood groups and example of codominance?

Yes, ABO is codominance, but I think the word polymorphism means here that two alleles determine the combinations of alleles for 4 groups. To be presice for the right A answer, I think it's better to say that all gases with exception of oxygen were present in adequate amounts. IMO tho.

It is codominance but that isn't what it is asking. Remember: Poly = many and morphism = structure/morphology. A, B, and O describe the antigens (or lack thereof) on red blood cells that give rise to blood types. If you are type A, you have only A antigens on your rbc's. If you are AB, then you have A and B antigens on your rbc's. If you are type O, you have neither A nor B antigens, etc. Here there are many possible morphologies of red blood cells you could potentially have.

Another example: Male and female humans are sexual dimorphisms. (Remember that di = 2). You can either be a male with male characteristics or female with female characteristics. Therefore in our species there are two different sex morphologies, hence sexual DImorphism. Understand?

Thanks, that makes perfect sense.
