Destroyer BIO 77??
Started by sajjy
It's a mistake, I'm pretty sure. I caught another mistake in the Bio section too, something about classification. Maybe I just have an older edition.
A side note: Did anyone else notice the missing solutions in the QR section? Weird.

Destroyer is right.
it produces GTP.. which gets turned into ATP later
notice Guanine and Adenosin are both Purines ..(similar structures)
but GTP is correct.
😕
That isn't in any book I read. All that I recall is that the electron transport chain makes an electrochemical gradient, and ATP synthase uses that to make ATP. I guess the ATP has to come from somewhere. I'm off to wiki it...

He's right, Kreb's uses GTP. I don't find it useful to really memorize numbers for aerobic respiration, especially Kreb's Cycle. They are always changing and none of the literature can support one number over the other.
does this mean it is WRONG to say Kreb cycle makes 1 ATP?
It says that Kreb's cycle produces 3NADH, 1FADH2 and 1GTP per cycle.
But isnt it produces 3NADH, 1 FADH2 and 1 ATP per cycle.
Where is this GTP coming from? I have read Campbell also and it doesnt say anything about GTP.
GTP is right.
No general book will dissect the cycle down in detail. You'll need to find a molecular biology or biochemistry book (the later probably goes into more detail) to get a lot of detail on it. That much detail isn't necessary for the DAT though.
