Why is it that adding impurities to a compound lowers it's melting point?
 
I'm thinking now that it probably has to do with the ability of a solute to disrupt a tightly packed structure (which is the reason why a solute lower the freezing point...
 
doesn't it have to do with lattice structures being disrupted, should raise the boiling point as well I believe, correct me if I am wrong.
