Well look at the periodic table. There are metals and non-metals. Metals are solid, except for mercury which you know isn't as you have seen mercury thermometers.
Everything else is a non-metal. Cl2, H2, etc. Most are gases, cept Br2.
You should be able to get mercury maybe. Not really sure how you would know Br2 is a liquid except by just memorizing/knowing it for some reason.
Just one of destroyer's detailed trick problems. I would not worry about it, but that's just me. Just know generally metals = solid, etc.
